How to Have an Unplugged Wedding

We at Jeannine Marie Photography love the idea of an “unplugged wedding.” What does this mean? At the ceremony, have a wedding sign and have your ushers ask guests to turn off their cell phones and refrain from using their cameras. This way, your guests are completely focused on you and your partner at your ceremony! Another advantage of an unplugged wedding is the result of your wedding photos. Often, guests tend to crowd the aisle with their arms sticking out with their phones and cameras flashing. While this doesn’t necessarily “ruin” the couple’s ceremony photos, it is a bit of an obstacle for the professional wedding photographers. They have to try to steer clear of these guests and in the end, the photos tend to have a lot of electronics that distract the focus from the couple. Consider having an unplugged wedding ceremony for your big day! Trust that your photographers will successfully get all of the amazing photos you want and give your guests the opportunity to truly be present on your big day! For their ceremony, it was so fun to see one of my 2014 couples (Marin and Dustin) perform as the ceremony musicians! One of my favorite details of the day was Alison’s dress from Formalities! Here’s what ILEA had to say: “If there was a box entitled ‘grand slam’, this year’s ILEA MSP Partner of the Year would check that box and then some. For years, this organization has gone the extra mile to capture the ins and outs of our busy chapter–both the activities and the individuals. This partner has documented our history, focused on our ILEA family and made it possible to share our happenings with our global community. Kelsey and Gabe’s winter wedding was at Gale Mansion in Minneapolis, MN. I first met Kelsey at her sister’s wedding I photographed at the Van Dusen Mansion. Kelsey and Gabe had a morning wedding ceremony because it’s an English tradition (Kelsey’s family is British) and because the couple loves brunch and mimosas! These two planned their wedding from their home in Florida and wanted their venue to have a warm, welcoming feel that captures what they love about Minnesota. One of the bridesmaids, Megan, and her daughter, Chloe, toured Gale Mansion for them. Megan and Chloe agreed the mansion was perfect. As Chloe put it, “Kelsey and Gabe should have their ball here!” So it was settled. Their winter wedding was perfect! A few highlights include a horse-drawn carriage with Johmar Farms, sunshine to warm up the cold January day, and the huge smiles on Kelsey and Gabe’s faces all day long! Seriously, look at the photos- ear to ear grins in almost every single photo! Too cute! Kelsey and Gabe met back in 2011 on their first day of medical school at the University of Minnesota. Kelsey’s red hair caught Gabe’s attention and Gabe’s leather jacket caught Kelsey’s attention. In November of 2015, Gabe proposed to Kelsey with her great-grandmother’s ring! The ring was originally purchased by Kelsey’s great-grandfather in celebration of returning home to his wife after surviving World War I. It has since been passed down to the eldest daughter of each generation. How amazing is that!?
