Minneapolis Institute of Art | Wedding Portraits | Minneapolis Wedding Photographer

It’s always fun to get out and around the Twin Cities with the bride and groom to get fun wedding portrait shots in a location other than the wedding venue. For Kelsey and Gabe’s Gale Mansion wedding, we escaped for a little while to take photos around the Minneapolis Institute of Art. It was so much fun to have Johmar Farms take the couple and me to MIA via horse-drawn carriage and get some fun winter photos in front of the building on their iconic steps. There was no snow and it was 60 degrees out! I love how their day was arranged around spending time with family and friends! It was obvious they keep many people close to them. I am thrilled to get to reunite with their family in July for Peter’s sister’s wedding! Alison and Randy’s winter wonderland wedding complete with twinkling lights and a blue and silver color scheme was at First Lutheran Church in Bemidji followed by a reception at the Sanford Center! For their ceremony, it was so fun to see one of my 2014 couples (Marin and Dustin) perform as the ceremony musicians! One of my favorite details of the day was Alison’s dress from Formalities! Just check out the photos below- that allusion back is stunning! I also loved photographing the couple at night surrounded by Christmas lights. Talk about a winter wonderland! Congratulations again you two and thank you so much for letting me capture your special day! Check out Alison and Randy’s summer engagement session at the cabin here! Kelsey and Gabe’s winter wedding was at Gale Mansion in Minneapolis, MN. I first met Kelsey at her sister’s wedding I photographed at the Van Dusen Mansion. Kelsey and Gabe had a morning wedding ceremony because it’s an English tradition (Kelsey’s family is British) and because the couple loves brunch and mimosas! These two planned their wedding from their home in Florida and wanted their venue to have a warm, welcoming feel that captures what they love about Minnesota. One of the bridesmaids, Megan, and her daughter, Chloe, toured Gale Mansion for them. Megan and Chloe agreed the mansion was perfect. As Chloe put it, “Kelsey and Gabe should have their ball here!” So it was settled. Their winter wedding was perfect! A few highlights include a horse-drawn carriage with Johmar Farms, sunshine to warm up the cold January day, and the huge smiles on Kelsey and Gabe’s faces all day long! Seriously, look at the photos- ear to ear grins in almost every single photo! Too cute! Kelsey and Gabe met back in 2011 on their first day of medical school at the University of Minnesota. Kelsey’s red hair caught Gabe’s attention and Gabe’s leather jacket caught Kelsey’s attention. In November of 2015, Gabe proposed to Kelsey with her great-grandmother’s ring! The ring was originally purchased by Kelsey’s great-grandfather in celebration of returning home to his wife after surviving World War I. It has since been passed down to the eldest daughter of each generation. How amazing is that!? Kristin and John had their wedding ceremony at Hennepin Avenue United Methodist Church followed by a reception at The Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis, MN! I’ve always wanted to photograph a wedding at The Guthrie! Maddie with Ask for the Moon Events did an amazing job putting together their big day! When looking for a venue, the couple knew they wanted something different and unique. Since The Guthrie only does about ten weddings a year- it truly was a unique Minneapolis wedding venue! They loved that the Guthrie allowed them to do some pretty awesome things with the lighting! They projected city skylines on three walls of the reception room and giant snowflakes on the floor. Another unique part of their day was Rock With U, a fusion of a DJ and a band! The high energy and amazing dance floor lighting by Elegance Wedding Production LLC was so much fun! With a December wedding, Kristin had her fingers crossed for snow! Boy did she get lucky! Mother Nature was on our side and we got some fresh snow! Thank you two so much for letting me photograph your big day! It was so exciting for me to finally get to photograph a wedding at The Guthrie! These two lovebirds went to Europe in June of 2016 to attend the groom’s sister’s wedding. They went to London, Amsterdam, and Rome while they were in Europe. In Rome, John insisted that they should go to Villa Borghese– a garden/park area. He was looking for a certain part of the park, and Kristin noticed that he was acting sort of weird. They stopped...

Tabitha and Pat met during the summer of 2013 at the swimming pool of their townhomes! All of their neighbors were hanging out; there was volleyball and cannon ball contests. Tabitha caught Pat’s eye and he began trying to convince her to go out with him. He was very persistent- inviting her to Timberwolves games and numerous other events. They went to a few Bingo outings with mutual friends and started to get to know each other more. Finally, Tabitha gave in and went to a Twins game with Pat. Then it was a couple of dinners and then a round of golf. They would text and see each other at the pool. It wasn’t until the end of that summer after a few more outings that Tabitha thought maybe Pat was the real thing! By September 1st, they made it official! In February of 2016, the couple went to Walt Disney World. On Valentine’s Day, they went to Magic Kingdom Park. When they arrived at the park, they had a photographer take their photo in front of the castle. The photographer was trying to tell them how to pose but instead, Pat got down on one knee! With over a hundred people watching, he asked Tabitha to be his wife. She said yes! Since they got engaged in Disney World, the couple incorporated Disney into their wedding day! Tabitha had Disney castle stickers with “I Do” in Disney font on the bottom of her heels. Their wedding signs, cake topper, place cards, and card box all featured Mickey and Minnie Mouse. They also used the Disney font on their giant ceremony program board. It was so much...
