2018 Star Awards WINNER | ILEA | Minneapolis Wedding Photographer

WOOT WOOT! Jeannine Marie Photography is a 2018 Star Awards Winner for “Best Event Photography: Wedding”! The Star Awards are hosted by the International Live Events Association (ILEA)’s Minneapolis-St. Paul Chapter. To be nominated for a Star Award, we had to submit one wedding and fill out a tedious entry form that includes answering questions about the event and the event process. We chose Theresa and Adam‘s Saint Paul wedding that was full of personalized details like DIY projects, tequila shots at the reception in ode to the couple meeting on a trip to Mexico, and more! A panel of judges then choose the top nominees in each category and the winners are revealed at an award show. Unfortunately, our team was unable to attend “An Undercover Affair” award show, but we were thrilled to find out that Jeannine Marie Photography won! This is such a huge honor, and we’re so happy to claim this title for the third year in a row! Congratulations to the other winners in all of the categories:  Best Catered Event – D’Amico Catering and Machine Shop Best Culinary Innovation or Solution – Mintahoe Catering & Events Best Event Design & Decor Budget Under $25,000 – Event Lab Best Event Design & Decor Budget $25,000 and Over and Best Event Planning (Public)- The Wedding Guys Best Use of Specialty Decor – Gretchen Berry Design Co. and BIG INK Best Use of Marketing/Design Collateral – Type A Events Best Event Photography (Non-Wedding) – Joe Szurszewski Photography Best Event Filmmaking (Videography) and Best Event Planning (Social, Non-Wedding) – Enticing Entertainment Best Event Logistics (Non-Tent) and Best...

Rebecca and Ryan had their September wedding at The Gardens of Castle Rock in Northfield, MN. Rebecca had this venue picked out long before Ryan popped the question! Back when they were dating, they planned a trip to Colorado to visit a friend of Rebecca’s. While planning the trip, they decided to check out activities in the Castle Rock, CO area. Well, when Rebecca searched for Castle Rock, the beautiful outdoor garden wedding venue popped up. She couldn’t help but to click on it and instantly fell in love with the venue! Rebecca didn’t mention the discovery though until after Ryan proposed! Since the couple wanted a rustic wedding theme with minimal decor, they decided the floral and landscaping of The Gardens of Castle Rock was the perfect fit. Plus, the venue was halfway between their two families. One of my favorite details was that the couple included a tablecloth and goblets on the head table that has been a part of Ryan’s family since the 1800’s! This was the 15th family wedding that the items have been used in! How neat is that!? But let’s back up a bit! Rebecca and Ryan met while attending school at the University of Iowa. They met one evening in downtown Iowa City and the rest is history! When they started talking about engagement and weddings, Rebecca made it clear she wanted a surprise engagement. Ryan accepted the challenge! He had planned a fancy dinner at a local winery to celebrate Rebecca completing her Master’s degree. Before they went to dinner, Ryan handed Rebecca a deck of cards. He had gotten them...

Kristine and Shane had their summer lakeside wedding at Hiawatha Beach Resort in Walker, MN. I used to work here back in the day so this sort of feels like a full circle to come back here and photograph this gorgeous wedding! One of the absolute highlights was Kristine and Shane’s first look! Shane was blindfolded and the moment Kristine removed the blindfold was just perfect! I just adore their reactions to seeing each other! These two were all smiles- and I mean, big ear-to-ear smiles, the entire day! It was absolutely contagious! Plus, they were total troopers when I asked them to play in the sand with their fancy wedding clothes on! Worth it for the awesome photos we got! Congratulations again, Kristine and Shane! It was an honor to capture your beautiful day! The clean, Neoclassical architecture of the lakeside venue, Como Dockside, situated on Lake Como in St. Paul, Minnesota was the perfect place for the meeting of numerous influences and the inspiration for the theme. This styled wedding shoot is an edgy ode to Lake Como in Italy. Thematic colors woven into the styling represent the Italian flag but in rich subdued shades; the darkest red dahlia, ivory roses, and sage green olive branches. We wanted a sense of mid-century edginess and elegance, calling to mind Italian films from the early 60’s such as “La Dolce Vita” (perhaps even just a hint of James Bond), so we invited the models to have a dramatic mood about their posed attitudes. For a balanced dynamic, we added a touch of softness with an underlying hint toward the romanticism of Maxfield Parrish paintings, which are often framed waterside in classical settings. We had so much fun working collaborating with some amazingly talented vendors to create this shoot: Como Dockside, Positively Charmed, We’ve Got It Covered, Buttercream, Flutter Bridal Boutique, Mani Mela, Style by Cia, Heimie’s Haberdashery, Ignite Lighting & Entertainment, and Kristinadesignz.
