Lowertown Event Center | Teal and Gold Wedding | Saint Paul Wedding Photographer

It has been such an honor to photograph Selena and Josh’s wedding proposal at Mears Park, their Lake Superior engagement session at Madeline Island, and now their wedding day at Lowertown Event Center! I have enjoyed getting to know this wonderful couple both as their photographer and friend. These two first met during a PowerHockey tournament in Detroit during the summer of 2015. For those unfamiliar with the sport, PowerHockey is similar to floor hockey, but all the players play in power wheelchairs. Josh was one of the players, and Selena was an assistant to one of his teammates. When Selena and Josh met, they immediately clicked and shared a lot of laughs. But the timing wasn’t quite right. The following year, the tournament was in Philadelphia. Selena and Josh ran into each other again. They got to talking and recalled their special connection at the Detroit tournament. This time, the timing was just right! As Selena puts it, “We haven’t stopped running out of things to talk and laugh about since!” When planning their big day, Selena and Josh really wanted their wedding day to truly reflect who they are. They chose Lowertown Event Center in Saint Paul as their venue because it’s across the street from Mears Park, the same place where they had their first date and where Josh proposed. In Selena’s wedding vows, she even joked that they should have their kids in Mears Park. To make their big day feel unique to them, they incorporated many personal touches. First off, their wedding ceremony included traditional Ojibwe segments in ode to Selena’s Native American heritage....

Well, Josh doesn’t have to pretend to be Sarah’s boyfriend anymore…because now they’re married!!! These two first met at a bar in Maple Grove and when some guys wouldn’t stop hitting on Sarah, Josh stepped in and pretended to be her boyfriend. This worked in Josh’s favor as they then started to date and he became Sarah’s real boyfriend. Fast forward to Sarah’s college graduation from University of Minnesota Duluth, Josh popped the question! Of course, Sarah said yes! They had a long engagement and even changed venues during the planning process. They decided the perfect spot to have their blush wedding was in the Sensory Garden at Minnesota Landscape Arboretum followed by a reception at Hazeltine National Golf Course. Despite the hot and sticky early September weather, everything was absolutely perfect for their big day! View their Minnehaha Falls and Stone Arch Bridge engagement session here! Here at Jeannine Marie Photography, we have seen a lot of fun Minnesota wedding trends so far in 2018! But which trends will stick around for a while? Check out our list of favorites to find out: Wedding Decor Greenery is all the rage right now! Couples are opting for more greens and less blooms within the personal flowers and floral decor. This vision is especially appealing for indoor weddings as couples create an “outside on the inside” look. Centerpieces are starting to move away from lanterns to geometric vases filled with fresh blooms, greenery, and candles. Lighting can make a difference at any venue. Some couples are choosing to add cafe lights to their reception room or even to their outdoor ceremony. Other couples are upping their lighting game by hiring expert lighting designers to create impressive patterns and colors throughout the venue. Rose gold decor is replacing the traditional gold! From rose gold bud vases and decor to rose gold chargers and plates, this shade of metallic is the new way to go! Balloons are a simple yet fun way to decorate, especially for backdrops. Some couples are even choosing to include balloons as part of their centerpieces. Wedding Attire For grooms, navy suits are the new black! Many grooms and groomsmen are also pairing their navy suits with a different color tie, vest, or even some fun socks! For brides, we’re noticing two common dress trends. The first is a modern, romantic lace A-line gown with stunning details in the back. The second wedding dress trend is a fun and flirty style with a flowy, light skirt....

When Caitlin and Nick toured Semple Mansion, they knew right away it was the perfect place to say “I do.”When she walked through the door, Caitlin could already envision herself walking down the grand staircase to her groom. They also loved the beautiful and elegant style of the mansion. It was a perfect fit for their intimate wedding. But let’s back up a bit! Caitlin and Nick met online back in April of 2016. They both love Mexican food so they decided to have their first date at a Mexican restaurant that Nick had seen was rated one of the best in the Twin Cities. Well, it turned out to not be quite what they had expected but they still had fun and even extended the date to go see a movie. They went on more dates. And more dates. And eventually on Valentine’s Day of 2017, Nick popped the question. Caitlin had made a homemade meal and a chocolate Bailey’s cake. Nick isn’t a fan of Valentine’s Day so Caitlin wasn’t surprised that he didn’t get her flowers when he arrived. Later in the night, Nick asked for a slice of the cake. Caitlin teased him that she’d have to think about it since he hadn’t bought her flowers. Well, when she turned around, Nick gave her a ring! Now, back to the wedding! First off, they had a gorgeous spring day! One of my favorite things about Caitlin and Nick’s wedding day was all of the personal details they included. Since Caitlin’s father had passed away, it was really important to incorporate their family and remember their deceased loved...

Qamar and Kasim had their Middle Eastern style wedding reception at 317 on Rice Park Event Center in Saint Paul. Before the reception, Kasim got ready at Heimie’s Haberdashery while Qamar got ready at Saint Paul Hotel. The couple had their first look in the lobby of the Saint Paul Hotel and then we got portraits at the hotel and at the Landmark Center. In between family portraits and the reception, we went to Harriet Island Pavilion to get some Saint Paul skyline shots! Before the cake cutting, the couple did a ring exchange. My favorite part about this wedding was the dancing! DJ Yousef and Tito the drummer had the dance floor packed all night long!
