St. Paul College Club | Navy and Green Wedding | Saint Paul Wedding Photographer

Jun 27, 2018 | Minneapolis Wedding Photographer, Saint Paul Wedding Photographer, Saint Paul Wedding Venues, Summer Wedding

Erin and Jake live out-of-state so they relied on Erin’s family to help them find the perfect wedding venue. Since Erin and Jake both love old houses, the St. Paul College Club was an easy fit. It also happens to be down the street from where Erin lived during college, and she always found the neighborhood to be adorable. The venue has a beautiful outdoor ceremony site that the couple loved because it’s in the garden and surrounded by greenery. It wasn’t hard to see that this was the perfect place for this couple to have their navy and green wedding. One very special part of their day was a traditional heirloom. Jake’s mom gave Erin a very special coin that has been passed down in her family. The coin completes the lesser known verse of the traditional saying, “Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue, a sixpence in your shoe!” For some reason, the sixpence in your shoe often gets left off the rhyme and many brides have forgotten this part. But Jake’s mom’s family made the sixpence a tradition. So, honoring the tradition, Erin taped the coin in her shoe! The second part of this family tradition is to also have the bride paint her name and wedding date on the wooden box where the coin is kept. We love this unique tradition! Other special aspects of their day included a poem written by Erin’s friend and read during the ceremony. One of Jake’s friends performed a song at the ceremony. For their cocktail hour, their two signature drinks were named after their beloved pets who couldn’t join them...

Ashley and Tom said “I do” at A’BULAE in downtown Saint Paul! This couple toured ten wedding venues, but knew there was no venue that would top A’BULAE. They loved the big, open dance floor and they knew their sangria and silver color palette would fit the room perfectly. A special moment on their wedding day was Tom’s gift to Ashley. He got her a gorgeous necklace. During the first look, Ashley didn’t wear a necklace, and aftedr seeing her, Tom smiled and said, “My gift is going to match your dress perfectly!” And he was right! The necklace was a perfect fit with Ashley’s wedding gown. Ask for the Moon Events helped plan their big day and everything came together beautifully! These two have been together for four years and engaged for two years so their families and friends couldn’t wait for the big day! Ashley and Tom first met during their freshmen year of college at University of Wisconsin: Eau Claire. She was part of Delta Zeta and he was in Delta Sigma Phi. The sororities and fraternities were helping an all-night Relay for Life event. At the event, attendees were encourage to walk around the track in support of a love one that was battling cancer. Ashley and Tom walked around the track together and found out they had a lot in common. They hung out all night and have been inseparable ever since. Then during the summer of 2016, Ashley and Tom did a weekend trip in Chicago. They went to the Planetarium and Ashley noticed that Tom was acting funny during the constellation show. One...

Rachel and Joe met at George Mason University in Virginia as undergrad students. The two were neighbors and had several mutual friends so one day, they decided to go see a movie together. And well, the rest is history! “Being college sweethearts is wonderful- we had the opportunity to have fun as students and transition into the working world together,” Rachel said. Skip ahead to Memorial Day of 2017. Rachel and Joe were having date night and it started at Lincoln Memorial on the National Mall (one of their favorite spots to go to talk and watch the sunset). On this night, Joe got down on one knee and proposed! Of course, Rachel said yes! Rachel and Joe planned their wedding all the way from Washington D.C.! The couple, as well as Rachel’s family, all live in Virginia. Joe’s family is from Minnesota so they decided to have the wedding in Joe’s home state! Their wedding ceremony was at Church of Assumption and the reception was at Landmark Center. The couple chose Church of Assumption because Joe’s family regularly attends church services there. They chose Landmark Center for their reception venue because they loved the classic look of the building and they knew their Virginia relatives would enjoy the enriching Minnesota history that the Landmark Center has to offer. In honor of the couple’s history in Virginia and Rachel’s home state, their table numbers were all Washington D.C. themed! Both Rachel and Joe love the color light blue so they also decided to incorporate this color into their flowers, ceremony programs, and wedding party’s attire. One very special aspect...

It was such an honor to teach a lighting workshop for Twin Cities wedding photographers at A’BULAE in Saint Paul! We were able to pack so much information into two hours! A’BULAE is a loft-style wedding venue located in historic Lowertown St. Paul. This gorgeous event space has a euro-contemporary style mixed with Italian design. The space also has floor-to-ceiling windows, chandeliers, and uplighting. All of these different light sources made A’BULAE the perfect indoor event space to share my best lighting tips that I’ve learned over my ten years as a professional wedding photographer. Huge shout-out to Modehaus Bridal for letting us borrow this gorgeous gown for the workshop! Are you engaged and looking for an engagement photographer and wedding photographer in Minnesota? Laurel and Brian hosted their wedding at the St. Paul College Club in Saint Paul, MN. They met while they were both working at a CVS. Brian had moved from Maine for the job as a pharmacist while Laurel was a pharmacy technician. Brian caught Laurel’s eye when he switched from a wire rimmed framed glasses to a dark framed pair. When Brian left CVS, they started dating. Their first date was at Brasa on Grand Ave. Brian also used to live on Grand Ave so the area is very special to their relationship. It only made sense to also have their wedding venue be in the Grand/Summit area. This is why they chose St. Paul College Club! Most of their vendor team is also from Saint Paul so it was a blast to work with some familiar faces, including Mark Haugen DJ, Lisa Reinhardt Makeup and Hair Artistry, The Wedding Shoppe, and Appleblossom Flowers. The night was full of a great time of eating, drinking, and celebrating this amazing couple! The clean, Neoclassical architecture of the lakeside venue, Como Dockside, situated on Lake Como in St. Paul, Minnesota was the perfect place for the meeting of numerous influences and the inspiration for the theme. This styled wedding shoot is an edgy ode to Lake Como in Italy. Thematic colors woven into the styling represent the Italian flag but in rich subdued shades; the darkest red dahlia, ivory roses, and sage green olive branches. We wanted a sense of mid-century edginess and elegance, calling to mind Italian films from the early 60’s such as “La Dolce Vita” (perhaps even just a hint of James Bond), so we invited the models to have a dramatic mood about their posed attitudes. For a balanced dynamic, we added a touch of softness with an underlying hint toward the romanticism of Maxfield Parrish paintings, which are often framed waterside in classical settings. We had so much fun working collaborating with some amazingly talented vendors to create this shoot: Como Dockside, Positively Charmed, We’ve Got It Covered, Buttercream, Flutter Bridal Boutique, Mani Mela, Style by Cia, Heimie’s Haberdashery, Ignite Lighting & Entertainment, and Kristinadesignz.
