I am a member of the International Live Events Association (ILEA) Minneapolis/St. Paul Chapter. Every month, Twin Cities event professionals get together to network and for an educational presentation that’s relevant to the local live events industry. For April’s meeting, we met at The Canopy by Hilton Minneapolis Mill District in Minneapolis. ILEA President Sara Grauf, CSEP and past ILEA President Jodi Collen, CSEP, led the group in an interactive conversation about the current and future state of the live events industry, including topics on growth, professionalism, commoditization, and our industry’s position in the global economy. As always, we had some great conversation and I enjoyed networking with fellow Twin Cities event professionals! Are you an event professional looking for a great networking group while also benefiting from some educational programs? Learn more about ILEA here!
Special thanks to my fellow April meeting’s sponsors: The Canopy, Sadie’s Couture Floral, VoiceHive, AVEX, Coppersmith Photography, Freestyle Productions, MeetingPages, Premier Transportation, and Twin Cities Business.
Beth and Kyle had a sports-themed engagement session honoring the Minnesota Twins, Minnesota Vikings, and the Green Bay Packers. These two are also big Wild fans, and got engaged on Beth’s birthday right before attending a game. While at the game, Beth had a sign about her birthday. The manager got them on the kiss cam and then gave them some carrot cake after the game!
There was no better engagement session location for these two sports fanatics than the US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. Closer to sunset, we also headed over to the Stone Arch Bridge and got some great shots with the city skyline. I’m looking forward to photographing their wedding at Windows on Minnesota in Minneapolis this December!
Danika and Blake’s spring engagement session ended up being a winter wonderland after our April snowstorm here in Minnesota. We went to Minnehaha Falls in Minneapolis where the snowy weather surrounded the gorgeous waterfall. These two high school sweethearts were cracking up and having a blast being models for a few hours! I can’t wait to photograph these two again at their Round Barn Farm wedding this fall!
Such an honor to have photographed Louis and Brittany’s spring wedding at Nicollet Island Pavilion. Louis’s sister Maddie is the owner and lead wedding planner of Ask for the Moon Events. She’s also a very dear friend of mine, and I had the privilege of photographing her wedding two years ago. It is such a huge compliment when family members of my past wedding couples ask me to capture their big days too!
For their wedding, Brittany and Louis decided to have an “under the stars” theme since they both love being outdoors and they got engaged while on a camping trip. The two were in Door County, Brittany’s favorite spot. After setting up their campsite, they decided to go for a bike ride to watch the sunset. They biked to a secluded area in the woods that overlooked the water. That’s where Louis got down on one knee. Brittany said yes, and she couldn’t believe Louis had pulled off this surprise without her figuring out what he was up to!
To set their starry night mood, they decided to bring the outdoors inside. Ignite Lighting and Entertainment created a beautiful night sky with blue and purple lights. The venue was filled with candles and greenery, as well as silver and purple decor. The night was absolutely perfect!

Megan and Trevor are tying the knot! For their engagement session, we went to Mill City Ruins in Minneapolis since it’s spring here in Minnesota and everywhere else outside is a muddy mess! It was chilly, too, so these two were in and out of their jackets. They were such troopers! This is actually the second engagement session I photographed for Megan and Trevor. For their first one, they included their four kids. I can’t wait to photograph their wedding this June when the weather is a whole lot nicer!
Haley and Makonnen‘s jewel-toned wedding at The Gardens of Castle Rock in Northfield, MN was published in Modern Weddings. These junior high school sweethearts knew they wanted an outdoor wedding at The Gardens was the perfect venue! Since their ceremony site had a woodsy, rustic feel, Haley and Makonnen decided to add some glitz and glam to their tent reception by incorporating purple linens, chandeliers, and fabric draping! Costumes, face painting, lightsabers, and so much more! I had such a great time photographing the 2019 Minnesota Independence College & Community (MICC) Gala at Renaissance Minneapolis Hotel, The Depot in Minneapolis. MICC is a nonprofit vocational and life skills training program for young adults with learning differences and autism spectrum disorders. This year’s gala’s theme was “Expedition Independence: What’s Your New Frontier?” to celebrate the spirit of exploration and limitless possibilities for students and graduates as they achieve independence. The gala included a silent auction, a live auction, wonderful speakers, a photo booth, a virtual reality game, excellent food, and one heck of an amazing dance party! Thank you for letting me be a part of this event!
